Certains mirages ont donné naissance à des légendes ; comme celle du targui égaré et épuisé qui, à chaque fois que le découragement l’étreignait et qu’il se sentait glisser vers le sable pour y mourir, il entrevoyait une théière fumante et sa femme qui lui tendait les bras. Un agréable parfum de thé à la menthe lui chatouillait les narines et il entendait[...]
Certains mirages ont donné naissance à des légendes ; comme celle du targui égaré et épuisé qui, à chaque fois que le découragement l’étreignait et qu’il se sentait glisser vers le sable pour y mourir, il entrevoyait une théière fumante et sa femme qui lui tendait les bras. Un agréable parfum de thé à la menthe lui chatouillait les narines et il entendait même le cliquetis des bracelets de sa femme ; ces visions qui, en fait matérialisaient l’amour qu’il portait à son foyer et à sa famille et le désir ardent de les revoir, lui permirent par leur apparition de recouvrir force et courage et de retrouver ainsi son campement.

Yes, indeed, it is this desire to dust off the things of yesteryear that is bothering me. I started by rediscovering the tales of my hometown Constantine. Then I became interested in the culinary art and all the ceremonial that accompanies it… And then the desire to illustrate my writings and here I am, a brush in my hand… A brush that I never let go of… But even in my painting is what I am not looking for and, despite myself, this certain duty of memory?
