Why water? First of all, for ecological reasons, our waters, seas, oceans, are in need. They are choked by plastic and pollution.
Water is the most magical element on earth. It exists as solid, liquid and gas. Water is life, fertility. All water on earth has been here since the beginning. Water can be soft and offer salvation, but it can also be a destructive force of nature against which nothing can stand.
I chose admirable women from history who also fought for their "right" to exist to represent our waters by giving their names to the paintings.
Courtney Harrison, better known as Courtney Love, the woman you love to hate, this grunge goddess has a lot of people against her. To me, this singer-songwriter is highly underrated, I see her as a great example. Her music has helped me through many dark periods. By taking her "don't-f*ck-with-me-attitude" as an example, I have become stronger and I have become more self-confident in life. I'm sure there are many more young women with me. As the figurehead of the feminist Riot Grrrl movement in the nineties, she taught women not only to make their voices heard, but to scream it out.
This woman will not be silenced. She says what she thinks, she flouts the rules of fashion and she goes straight for her target. Saying she can't do something only makes her fight harder.
Today, she is rarely seen on the musical stage, but she certainly hasn't disappeared. She defeated years of drug addiction and found salvation in Buddhism. She devotes herself to the weak in society, women's rights and trying to eradicate financial illiteracy.
Courtney describes herself as follows: "I'm not a woman, I'm a force of nature". A woman, therefore, who is more than worthy of a body of water; not a quietly babbling river, but a real tsunami.
