J'ai entrepris ce projet de dessins de femmes algériennes, qui sont au nombre de 10, dans le but ultime d'en faire un livre d'artiste.
Ces portraits ont individuellement leur force, c'est pourquoi j'aime les présenter également seuls.
Ces femmes étant moquées, insultées, et réduites au moment de la prise de ces photos et lors de leur première exposition, j'ai voulu les montrer sous un autre jour. Les montrer afin de les mettre à l'honneur, montrer leur regard et leur beauté austère.

My name is Sofia and I am a painter passionate about the cultural richness of North Africa and Amazigh/Berber. My art is imbued with the beauty and diversity of these centuries-old traditions, and I strive to capture the very essence of these legacies through my works. As a versatile artist, I explore different mediums to bring my creative visions to life, whether through painting, drawing, or woodcuts. Each work I create is an invitation to travel into the landscapes of the soul and history, where vibrant colors and eloquent shapes tell ancient and timeless tales.
Through culture, I explore different notions such as: intimacy, family, childhood memories, cultural heritage, identity, trauma. I like to explore different notions, reflect deeply on them, and share them in order to exchange and enrich myself.
In my process, I like to stage through photography, which allows me to have a frame of reference, and it's a way of appropriating my own culture in a personal and lived way, it's a way of reconnecting with it.
Currently a visual arts student, I am excited to share my practice with you.
