Light and Darkness: The contrast between the bright figure and the dark background symbolise hope and goodness prevailing over darkness and adversity.
This duality of light and shadow representing the battle between positive and negative forces.
The woman’s serene and direct gaze suggest a connection with the viewer and also implies the idea of being watched over and the omnipresence of a higher power.
Ultimately, the main meaning of this painting is about hope, protection, the interplay of the divine in everyday life and the ever-present battle between light and dark forces.
It also is a reminder of the better aspects of our nature, encouraging viewers to seek out goodness and guidance within themselves and others.
