Je me suis inspiré d’une ancienne photo en noir et blanc dédicacée, d’une grande danseuse étoile, Yvette Chauviré.
La danse classique a apprivoisé l’animal en moi. A l’autre bout de cette technique exigeante il y a la virtuosité, le vertige du mouvement. Relâcher l’animal dans un cadre très strict est le défi de toute étoile. Je voulais explorer la nature humaine derrière l’image d’un symbole culturel.
Dans la démarche et l’expérimentation avec le support, j’ai fait le clash d’un bel artifice historique et académique avec le brut naturel et organique du bois.
J’ai cherché à donner forme à une image féminine forte et élégante. Ancré, posé, mon sujet dégage confiance et dignité.
Son visage encore plus blanc que le clair de son support de bois vierge auquel elle est connectée par le haut de son buste, donne de l’autorité et une dignité naturelle.
Le fond jaune soulève la dynamique de son caractère rayonnant. Elle est portée.
