Carlos Álvarez Maciel nacido en Cuernavaca. La obra del artista nace en la infancia, al tener contacto por primera vez con una pequeña libreta y unos lapicez de colores regalados por las creativas y sabias manos de mi madre Alicia Maciel Romero.
Formación.
A muy temprana edad entre los 8 y 9 años tras un concurso estatal soy seleccionado para exponer por primera vez en una galería, obteniendo un reconocimiento especial escrito en las artes plásticas. En México en 1968 para celebrar el proximo mundial de Futbol 1970, tres de mis obras son seleccionadas para ser exhibidas virtualmente por la TV nacional.
Con el estudio de la geometría, la línea, la esfera, y el cubo, el analisis de las obras de artistas del Renacimiento Italiano: Filippo Brunelleschi, Leonardo da Vinci, Rafael Sanzio, Miguel Angel así como el barroco de: Rubens, Rembrandt o el español Goya. Del muralismo mexicano: Diego Rivera, González Camarena,Siqueiros,Orozco. De pintores como: Auguste Renoir, Pablo Picasso, Manuel Felguerez, Victor Vasarely, Mathias Goeritz. Estos artistas vendrían a enriqueser mi lenguaje expresivo en las formas, planos y espacios visuales. Con el color llegaria a resultados novedosos y en la abstracción a expresiones que rompen con la inútil y acefala formación oficialista en la arquitectura llamada funcionalista y realizada en México en los años 60s. y 70s. En la literatura de Leóni Tolstoi, Giovanni Papini, García Márquez, y Octavio Paz con quien tuviera un diálogo en 1978 le darían mayor fuerza a mi interpretación plástica.
Con el tiempo estudios y diseños semejantes pero con un toque personal serían empleados en la arquitectura con el nombre de corriente deconstructivista, por arquitectos de la talla de Saha Hadid premio Pritzker 2004.
El tiempo me daría la absoluta razón.

En 1985 soy invitado por el taller de arquitectura Luis Barragán y Ferrera, para colaborar como Arquitecto en la exposicion de la obra del arquitecto (premio Pritzker 1980) Luis Barragán en el Museo Rufino Tamayo.
