The painting was done in response to the events in Ukraine after February 24, 2022. I was inspired by the paintings of Kandinsky, who created many artworks in the period 1911-1914 in premonition of the war. Made in a completely abstract manner, his paintings delight viewers with their superior composition, perfect balance of color, and almost total absence of form. This gave the audience a sense of the artificiality of the upcoming war. The brutal reality, cruelty, and crazy senselessness of what Russia was doing in Ukraine forced me to extend the framework of Kandinsky's abstractions.
Картина написана в ответ на события в Украине после 24 февраля 2022 года. Меня вдохновили картины Кандинского, который создал множество работ в период 1911-1914 годов в предчувствии войны. Выполненные в совершенно абстрактной манере, его картины радуют зрителей превосходной композицией, идеальным балансом цвета и почти полным отсутствием формы. Это дало зрителям ощущение искусственности предстоящей войны. Жестокая реальность, жестокость и безумная бессмысленность того, что творила Россия в Украине, заставили меня расширить рамки кандинских абстракций.

Years ago, I studied drawing (pen, charcoal, sepia), painting (pastels, watercolor, oil), still life painting, plein air painting, the art of portrait painting at the School of Art in the city of Tomsk in Russia. During those years, I also received my MS in Applied Electronics and PhD in Biophysics. My scientific research brought me to the US in 1992, and since that time I worked in Chicago as a scientist. Although my day work had been very demanding and was taking most of my time for years, I finally returned to painting full time about 15 years ago.
Of all the techniques I have tried before l I prefer oil on canvas because it gives me unlimited opportunities to express myself. My credo is to use imagination and practice artistic approach in everything I do. Picturing of human mindset in social relations attracts me the most.
