Mike Shipman is an award-winning, self-taught photographer with a degree in wildlife biology. For him, the world is a fascinating place and we all have something to say about him. He believes, like conservationist Aldo Leopold, that humans are not separate from nature, but an integral part of it.
Mike's photographs reflect human interaction with life on Earth. He sees the world around him as a mirror of what he captures through his lens. Each individual interacts with and understands their environment differently based on their past, present and future experiences.
Mike's varied experiences in wildlife biology, museum work, mining, high tech, community service and various other jobs have given him both a broad and specific understanding of the world. His photographs are the result of a dialogue between him and his environment. According to him, if we are observant and patient, we can participate in the many conversations that take place around us.
Mike Shipman is a photographer who invites viewers to see the world around them in a different way and to engage more with nature. His photographs are a testament to his commitment to conservation and his love for the beauty of nature.
