Bart Debo started shooting quite late, when he was almost 50. Youth is not deterred by age, neither is talent. After a number of evening classes, he started working as a photographer in Kortrijk (Belgium), where he lives, works and regularly exhibits. He has diverse sources of inspiration and works on eclectic projects: he enjoys photographing lions in South Africa as much as trees in the forest in his neighbourhood. From hurried people in the subway to incongruous situations in a swimming pool. He always works in the same way: he edits real photos with digital techniques (especially Photoshop and Lightroom) to arrive at original creations. He likes to refer to the statement of the famous photographer Ansel Adam (1902-1984): 'You don't take pictures, you make them.' Bart Debo made it his motto.
