My fascination with light, colour and texture stems from my early childhood spent in Morocco. Later, the family came back to France and I discovered a completely different environment in the village of Vézelay in Burgundy, where the climate can be harsh and the skies often grey.
When my father gave me a set of oil paints for my 10th birthday I began to paint scenes of Morroco from memory. But I soon became inspired by the vast rolling landscapes of Burgundy. The contrast between these two worlds has been a major factor influencing my work.
After studying in the Paris art schools of l’Académie Charpentier, La Grande Chaumière and the ENSAD, I followed a career in scenography. Since 2008 I have dedicated my time exclusively to painting, exploring various themes and techniques, both alone in my studio and as part of a group of artists.
My work is inspired by natural matter in landscape : rock-strewn valleys, forests, cliffs, coastal scenes, estuaries…I explore the interaction between light and matter, both mineral and vegetable. I aim to express how light reveals matter, and inversely, how matter sublimes light.
