Even as a child I was interested in the craft of painting and drawing and then, after school, I got to know the craft of the printer through an internship in a printing shop while I was completing my vocational diploma in design. Offset printing is my profession but my real calling is sculpture. I invest all my free time in my projects. I sculpt from various soft rocks such as limestone, alabaster, sculptor's marble and serpentine, as well as sculpting from clay. The optical concept of the sculptures usually includes a base that fits into the overall picture. For the bases I use beech wood in connection with metal shafts or old cylinder bearings because I really like the visual interplay of stone, metal and wood. The sculptures are of a high level of craftsmanship in the tradition of old sculptors. They are representational representations of a wide variety of topics. The spectrum ranges from grotesque figures that fit the theme of the Renaissance to surreal sculptures and sculptures that are more likely to be assigned to fantastic realism.
