Born in 1991 in the Paris region, Alison Vignault grew up and spent her teenage years in China. In 2019, she obtained her MFA from the TALM Superior School of Art and Design in Tours, and dedicated her thesis to the forms of presence of the author-photographer in contemporary portraiture. She thus named five families of presences: the Proven, the Pretended, the Understood, the Defiant and the Confident.
Currently, she lives and works in Gagny, France. Her work focuses mainly on drawing and sculpture to create an imagery of interiority. Her interest in introspection comes in part from her childhood memories and photos abroad. That is what built her relationship with the other through the gaze, which is for her a major source of inspiration.
