Zhengyuan (Cooper) Gao

I'm an autodidact artist, having a passion for expressing and sharing my imagination. Before seriously pursuing arts, I taught economics and mathematics at various universities. My research interests lie in complex and abstract social contexts. After ten years of teaching and researching, I realized that my academic environment couldn't fully support further exploring my imaginary world. So I turned to other mediums to represent my visions.

I'm interested in expressing abstractly the spiritual structures I confront in social relations. Since November 2022, I have regularly experimented with acrylic paintings, among other materials. Most of my paintings and writings reflect the imaginative world in my mind, a world promoting light-hearted views on abstract social, political, and philosophical issues.
