Hello! I'm Maria Bel, born and live in Moscow, and I create paintings in different techniques and styles.
Since my childhood I have been inspired by great masterpieces of famous artists seen in art books and museums. I do believe that art creativity is the best way of living and the best shelter where one can reach the harmony with the world.
I have many favourite subjects in painting: various abstract landscape, interpreted dreams, still life, floral compositions, portraiture, figurative, female images.
It’s important to me to feel free in choosing the preferred medium and style of artwork – I like to be different in my painting process and to vary the texture sometimes using self-made oil paints with rough pigments. The choice often suggested by subject itself. Often it seems that some intriguing art subject already exists on my canvas or paper and just waits to be uncovered, revealed with brush or palette knife.
I find great inspiration in just white common sheet of paper or blank, untouched canvas on easel!
My usual practice is to try catching excited life events in my memory and to experiment with their subjects on canvas and paper.
