Yaroslavl painter, People's artist of Russia Yuri Dmitrievich Zharkov was born on February 2, 1949 in the village of Ossora in Kamchatka. In 1969, he graduated from the Yaroslavl art school. Yuri Zharkov is an outstanding Yaroslavl artist, one of the leading painters of Russia, a member of the Union of artists of Russia since 1985. He is a participant of all-Union, national, regional, regional and foreign exhibitions (France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal). Zharkov was elected Chairman of the Board of the Yaroslavl branch of the Union of artists (1988-1993), as well as Deputy Chairman of the Board for exhibition activities. At the heart of Zharkov's creative method was and still is work with nature. Real impressions are for him not only the material for future works, but also the creative impulse that foreshadows inspiration, so the painter works very much in the open air. His expressive still lifes and heartfelt landscapes of Central Russia adorn the collections of many Russian and European museums and galleries.
