Through this series, I aim to depict the current state of the world by showcasing tortoises in various postures (sometimes mating) against absurd and unrelated backgrounds. I created this particular painting during the pandemic lockdown. The image of an upside-down tortoise in a closed box with a small hatch to the outside represents the situation many of us found ourselves in during the COVID-19 pandemic.
