Blue Shizen is a meditative exploration of natural flow and emotional stillness. Using a monochromatic palette of layered blue-greens, I employed soft, swirling brushwork to create a sense of fluidity and quiet movement—inviting the viewer into a tranquil, immersive space. The technique blends dry brush textures with subtle blending, evoking mist, water currents, or passing thoughts—untethered, yet gently harmonized.
This piece is painted on high-quality 100% cotton fabric (370 g/m²), offering a textured, enduring surface that enhances the depth and softness of each stroke. The inspiration for Blue Shizen comes directly from the nature that surrounds me—the high-altitude serenity of Serra da Estrela, Portugal’s tallest mountain range at 1900 meters. The colors, textures, and atmosphere reflect the shifting skies, rolling mists, and quiet strength of this landscape.
This work also marks a personal movement—from the speed and structure of city life to the deeper rhythms of the innerland. In embracing the stillness and elemental beauty of the mountains, I’ve found a space of reconnection, both with nature and with self. The Japanese concept of shizen (自然)—naturalness and effortless harmony—guides the piece’s intention and form.
Perfect for serene environments, Blue Shizen is ideally suited to spacious interiors such as living rooms, hotel lounges, or large bathrooms—anywhere that benefits from a touch of peace and quiet elegance. It is not just a painting, but an atmosphere—a visual meditation shaped by landscape, movement, and presence.
About Me:
I am a self-taught abstract expressionist whose work is deeply rooted in transformation. After 30 years as a corporate executive in a male-dominated world, I turned to painting as a way to reclaim voice, power, and emotional truth. My art explores themes of leadership, resilience, and especially female empowerment — not through order or representation, but through spontaneous, intuitive gestures that reflect the complexity of life.
My move from Lisbon to the rural landscape of Serra da Estrela awakened a new rhythm in my work. The mountains, wind, water, and silence now shape my palette — with layered textures and bold blue-green hues evoking nature, freedom, and inner peace.
Each canvas is a limitless field of expression — no focal point, no hierarchy, just raw presence. I paint to break stereotypes, to merge strength and vulnerability, and to give form to the emotional landscapes that shaped me — as a woman, a leader, and an artist.
The price of this 98.5 × 107.5 cm artwork is based on an official AKOUN-certified valuation, proportionally adjusted to its size. As an emerging artist with over 60 artworks sold, a finalist in Top Selection Berlin 2025, and an upcoming exhibition at ExpoArt Braga (September 2025), my work continues to gain visibility in the contemporary art scene. This price reflects both certified market value and artistic trajectory, offering collectors the opportunity to invest in a unique, large-format painting from a rising independent artist.

As a self-taught, emergent artist, my work is a reflection of both my personal and professional journey—an evolution from a trailblazing CEO and Entrepreneur in the tech industry to a liberated creative spirit in the rural mountains of Portugal. My art, deeply rooted in abstraction, celebrates the complexity of transformation, female empowerment, and the profound beauty of life’s transitions. Through vibrant colors, bold compositions, and textured layers, I create a visual language that invites both emotional connection and intellectual exploration.
I view abstract painting as a powerful form of expression, where creativity flows freely and without boundaries. My approach is fluid, constantly evolving, and never bound by a single formula. Much like leadership, which requires the courage to adapt and take risks, my art thrives on unpredictability, allowing the materials and organic forms to speak their own language. The absence of a fixed style mirrors my belief that, just like leadership, art should evolve with the times—embracing new techniques, emotions, and energies to truly capture the complexities of the human experience.
In my work, the dynamic interplay of bold, vibrant colors and textures is a reflection of strength and resilience, particularly the resilience of women navigating challenging environments, whether in the boardroom or in life. I use particularly large canvases and paint on the floor, as the perspective from this angle is entirely different, allowing for a deeper connection to the work. Blue hues, in various shades, dominate my canvas—symbolizing depth, calm, and infinite possibilities. These shades of blue represent both the soothing force of inner strength and the boundless potential that comes from embracing change and uncertainty. The layers of blue, ever-shifting, echo the fluidity of life itself and the unwavering spirit that drives one forward.
I work primarily with cotton and linen, two raw materials that resonate deeply with me as symbols of authenticity, resilience, and vulnerability—qualities that embody female leadership. These materials allow me to explore the tactile, organic nature of life’s transitions. My use of fabric and natural textures reflects the grounding energy of nature, drawing inspiration from my surroundings in the rural mountains of Serra da Estrela. Through these materials, I express the profound depth of emotion and the beauty that emerges when we embrace imperfection and change.
Art, for me, is a powerful tool for transformation and expression. After spending over three decades in the corporate world, I turned to art not as an escape, but as a means of deeper connection, self-expression, and inspiration.
