DÉLIVRANCE

On entend gronder, au loin, caché dans la nuit noire, comme un animal lourd et massif qu’on aurait dérangé dans son profond sommeil. Dans la prairie qui frémit et tremble, les feuilles chuchotent et se regardent avec perplexité, un peu angoissées.

A l’horizon le bourdonnement prend de l’ampleur et l’on n’entend presque plus les rumeurs et les murmures des plantes. La terre ocre, parsemée des végétaux fébriles, frissonne doucement, puis plus violemment, accélère la saccade en secouant dans un rythme frénétique son feuillage vif. Le manteau terrestre palpite et se soulève comme une bulle, de plus en plus haut, de plus en plus vite, puis les secousses s’arrêtent, et le silence revient.

On perçoit alors un « pop » presque ridicule. « POP », et puis plus rien.

Et alors, tout en haut du monticule, là-bas au loin, on voit le sommet de l’excroissance se déchirer en crissant. Puis arrive le cri strident. Et, ouvrant brièvement un œil vide et glauque, le pic projette soudainement un gigantesque geyser de sang.

Et la nuit s’illumine de milliers d’oiseaux brûlants, éclairs rouges découpant la voûte carbone comme autant de scalpels de feu, striant la face atone de l’astre d’une multitude de cicatrices écarlates.

La planète, soulagée, exulte. Et continuant de vomir ses entrailles, l’astéroïde, dans sa logorrhée avide, exécute sans aucune lutte les brutes humanoïdes. Sans faire de détail, il lave sa surface et efface les plus infimes traces et entailles de ses parasites racailles.

Les volatiles, enfin libérés, sont redevenus in fine maîtres du monde. Ils vont de nouveau pouvoir régner et remplacer les bêtes immondes.

Son prurit maintenant apaisé, la terre clôt lentement son œil béant, et, dans un grand soupir d’aise, referme doucement la parenthèse.

RELEASE

We hear a rumbling, in the distance, hidden in the dark night, like a heavy, massive animal disturbed from its deep sleep. In the meadow, quivering and trembling, the leaves whisper and look at each other in perplexity, a little anxious.

On the horizon, the buzzing grows louder, and the sounds and murmurs of the plants are almost no longer audible. The ochre earth, dotted with feverish vegetation, shudders gently, then more violently, accelerating its jerking, shaking its vibrant foliage in a frenetic rhythm. The earth's mantle pulses and rises like a bubble, higher and higher, faster and faster, then the shaking stops, and silence returns.

We then hear an almost ridiculous "pop." "POP," and then nothing.

And then, at the very top of the mound, over there in the distance, we see the tip of the growth tearing apart with a screech. Then comes the shrill cry. And, briefly opening a hollow, glaucous eye, the peak suddenly ejects a gigantic geyser of blood.

And the night is lit up with thousands of burning birds, red flashes cutting through the carbon vault like so many fiery scalpels, streaking the star's lifeless face with a multitude of scarlet scars.

The planet, relieved, exults. And continuing to vomit its entrails, the asteroid, in its greedy logorrhea, executes the humanoid brutes without a struggle. Without paying attention, it washes its surface and erases the tiniest traces and marks of its parasitic scum.

The birds, finally freed, have once again become masters of the world. They will once again be able to reign and replace the filthy beasts.

Its itch now appeased, the earth slowly closes its gaping eye and, with a great sigh of relief, gently closes the parenthesis.
