Sine Senze (art name of Martina D’Anastasio) was born in 1990 in Rome, where she works and lives. She graduated in Painting at The Academy of Fine Arts of Rome in 2014.
She’s always been interested in traditional painting and in her Academy years she traveled around Europe and USA to seek inspiration and to study Old Master’s works.
Traditional art requires time, patience, care. There’s no space for rush and shortcuts.
She uses oil painting as a medium and as code to paint her inner world.
Since I was a child I had an alter-world in my mind, full of dark tales, fragile creatures and imaginary friends and art has always been my way of bringing that world to life.
My works are realistic and imaginative at the same time, full of symbolisms and hidden truths, to represent the connection between the real world and my dreams’ kingdom.
That kingdom could be fabulous and horrific, beautiful and creepy, because every dream has a dark side, and I love to portray both sides at the same time.
There’s a story behind each of my works, and I use different symbols to build a dialogue with the audience.
