The sun is overcast and the colours of the landscape are muted, with blue dominating.
It starts to rain: the water on the objects intensifies the contrast of colours.
The cypresses and reeds seem to rejoice at the arrival of the rain.
This painting was done en plein air in the Tuscan countryside in March 2018.
The work is painted in oil on paper, then stretched on 100% linen canvas, mounted on a solid fir frame made by the artist.
The signature is in the lower left corner.
The painting is protected with a layer of satin acrylic varnish.
The work is framed in a slender fir frame, the knots in the wood deliberately exposed to enhance the naturalness of the subject. The frame is stained brown. It is ready to hang.
The work is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
“Cypresses, reeds and rain” is a literal translation of the original Italian title "I cipressi, le canne e la pioggia".

I started out as a portrait painter at a very young age, later shifting my interest to nature. I thus began an artistic journey in which the study of painting merged with the discovery of the world around me, making me discover beauty in every corner. I see nature as a mystery to be unravelled, and painting as the best tool to do so. I dream of being able to create works that, with essential brushstrokes, can tell the story of the nature I am experiencing at that moment, in its entirety. But my paintings are not just landscapes. They are compositions that tell stories, moods or situations transfigured in nature. I paint mainly en plein air, using oil colours. The setting of the work is classical, figurative, perspective. The choice of colours is post-impressionist, with pure colours, often juxtaposed, mixed directly on the canvas. The execution is quick and unhesitating, typically expressionist. There is no drawing, painting is drawing. I like to paint on paper and then transfer to canvas. As a separate discipline, I am also interested in portraiture, which I have always done, also on commission.
