The three projects in the Borders 2020 series are a visual expression of the molecular images of the recent pandemic. It also captures the sense of our separation from each other by the “borders,” or the walls of our homes during lockdown. The three projects in the Borders 2020 series are a visual expression of the molecular images of the recent pandemic. It also captures the sense of our separation from each other by the “borders,” or the walls of our homes during lockdown. Each of us is unique and yet we were ultimately similar to each other in our confinement. Our dividing walls were thin and did not last forever. These compositions can also evoke a sort of electoral map, which represents the sense of polarized division of politics. It became apparent during the pandemic that we need to overcome these division in order to endure peacefully into the future. I believe we have an opportunity to learn from the recent past and to pursue a new course, finding those intersections between us and those who seem very different from us.
I love to work in bold colors but I would say that the colors from the projects of this series were especially bold. These are some of my favorite projects I have made.
