Work on commissioned painted portraits began after the artist moved to Moscow. In 2000, Nikolai Sednin was the author of the first full-length portrait of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and in 2018 – the author of the last commissioned portrait of the President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev. For many years, the artist periodically carries out orders for portraits of famous figures of politics, business and culture.
In 2001, Nikolai Sednin, commissioned by the Moscow Group of Companies DIAT, performs a series of graphic portraits of the leaders and the best employees of this organization for the publication of a wall calendar, where each month corresponds to a page with a portrait. Among the 12 portrayed, Nikolai Sednin also includes a portrait of Vladimir Putin for the page of the month of the birth of the President of Russia and completes the cycle with a self-portrait.
