It stands tall welded to a thin base plate that is balanced so it will not topple over without a decent amount of force. " It was only part of the dance " is a steel sculpture made by Scott Wilkes by welding thousands of small steel rods together. It stands tall welded to a thin base plate that is balanced so it will not topple over without a decent amount of force. Its polished and sealed so it will not rust but not intended for outside placement for the elements would not do it well. Kept indoors it should keep extremely well. Its almost like a mirror and is not colored . The pics of express it for all the colors it holds in the pics are picked up by its surroundings
To me : This piece has somewhat of a poignant meaning,, Its the part of a relationship or love with someone that ended before its time. Which leaves the dance unfinished, Sometimes a good relationship or love can get pissed on by factors we can't change or avoid or sometimes even see. The image is like a dance partner who isn't complete for the dance isn't ,, that its a faded portion of what it was supposed to be,,,still wonderful in ways, but not finished ,but the core beauty still is intact.
