Sarah Mulligan

I am an abscraptionist if you will.....creating abstract art using metal scraps. I am a self taught "action" painter/ welder and only just stumbled upon this artistic talent I wasn't even aware I had, about a year ago ,while working for my friend and fellow metal artist, Omar Wysong. One day when I was throwing away the left over scraps of metal that came from me cutting the steel aguave plant patterns for his successful metal yard art shop on etsy, some fell on the floor and I saw something beautiful in the way it had fallen. I asked if I can take the scraps home instead of throwing them away and from that moment on that I finished that first piece that I put up on my wall , I knew that I had found my purpose in life. And I haven't been able to stop this incessant, compulsive need I feel, to keep creating , ever since. I am the first awake and the last to sleep in the pursuit of my calling.
Since discovering this talent, it has changed everything for me. No longer do I feel the emptiness of that dreary mundane exsistence of an unfavorable past with no light at the end of the tunnel for the future. Instead I find myself getting up every morning with purpose and direction and hope. I am filled with gratitude and filled with satisfaction as I gaze back at something I have created. It has awakened something inside me that makes me happy to be alive again. I guess you would call this hope.
Currently, I live in Los Angeles with my fiance and three kids and for once I am comfortable in my own skin, knowing I am where I am supposed to be, doing what I am supposed to be doing.
