In Africa, 90% of the work of gathering water and wood, for the household and for food preparation, is done by women. In some parts women and children spend up to 5 hours a day collecting wood and water and 4 hours on food preparation.

I have always had artistic talent and have an absolute passion to paint. I believe that passion is more important than talent - it's that special ingredient that shows in the work.
I have reached a point in my painting where I feel comfortable with my African Expressionism style using vivid colours, thick application of paint and distinctive brush and pallet knife strokes. My paintings are each a story and all are created from memory and imagination. The landscapes become a backdrop for human interaction pushing the composition aim to reflect on everyday life in Africa.
I started my career as an Art School teacher but was soon lured away into the world of business during which I obtained an MBA. I owned and operated a very successful artist supplies business for 16 years (Artmates) which gave me valuable in-depth knowledge on ‘the science behind the art’ and the importance of using quality materials. Selling my business in 2004, I decided to explore opportunities in the corporate world. Although I enjoyed many successes, I found the smell of oils and canvas more appealing and picked up my easel at every opportunity.
My work is held in many private collections including Zimbabwe, South Africa, Holland, Ireland, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, China and Japan. and Holland.
