Biography 

I was born in 1972, in Anykščiai, Lithuania. From an early age, I was passionate about wood sculpting, which led me to Wood Design studies at Kaunas Art College, later to Sculpture at Vilnius Academy of Arts. In my master's, I studied Historical Sculpture and Restoration and after graduation, I was invited to join the department of Restoration of Art and Interior Heritage as a lecturer.

The origin and the function of the sculpture have always been my main interests. In my early works, figurative sculpture integrates into furniture. The plane surface emphasizes the physical features and the base shape.

Later on, I got influenced by artifacts - archaic motives, which became the inspiration for my authentic technique-specific texture of the wood surface. My creative works embrace visual and applied art spheres. Most of the sculptures are created for the interior and can function as modern archaic style furniture.

Unconditional relation with the material is essential in my creative process. The cycle of manufacturing - from natural preparation of wood to completion of the art piece, are consistently accomplished by the artist myself.
