«Holy Lake. April begins»

This work took first place in the nomination “The Nature of My Land” and was awarded the gold medal of the Art Assembly “Cup of Russia” held in Moscow on April 13-25.

The so-called "Holy Lake" (sometimes it is also called the Cosmic Lake), is located near the village of Igumenka and is connected by a channel with the Volga River.
That is, in fact, this is not a lake, but the bay, curvature of the great Russian Volga river.
An ancient legend is connected with the history of this place. In the 14th century, the youth Gregory lived nearby in the village. And he had a wedding with the beautiful Xenia. And Xenia had a dream the day before that she was not getting married to Gregory at all, but to another person.
At this time, Prince Yaroslav was hunting in the forests. And it so happened that his arrow flew straight away to the Temple, in which the wedding of Xenia and Gregory was scheduled. The prince entered the Temple, saw the beautiful Xenia, and fell in love with her. And Xenia immediately recognized the stranger, the very one with whom she was married in a dream. The prince pushed Gregory aside, took Xenia by the hand, and himself married her. Then he took her to Tver and made her a princess (later Xenia and Yaroslav are the parents of the famous prince St. Michael of Tver)
And what about Gregory? Imagine his condition. Everyone pointed a finger at him in church and laughed at him.
He took off all his clothes and went into the forest, just in time for this very Holy Lake. Later he lived in monasticism all alone, prayed, and later became a saint.
Here stood the Temple, which was later destroyed.

And according to another version, this lake is called cosmic. Here is an anomalous zone, on the lake itself and around the lake. Even the trees are bizarre here. In the 90s of the last century, here, nearby, in the Igumenka sanatorium, a meeting of psychics was held. Three hundred sorcerers and witches from all over Russia came here. And at night, one after another, holding the shoulders, "with a little train", they went to this lake and performed their rituals here.
They say that the depth in the middle of the lake is more than 120 meters.
The lake is located in the Tver region, Konakovsky district, Russia.
