Kunstenaar Danny Dogger (1979) is vanaf zijn vroege kinderjaren bezig met tekenen. Als volledig autodidact heeft hij na jaren van experimenteren de herkenbare en tevens authentieke Dogger-style weten te creëren.
In 2002 is hij begonnen met het uitwerken van deze stijl op doek. Met een ver doorgevoerde abstractie wordt slechts weergegeven wat noodzakelijk is. Expressie en ‘less is more’ staan binnen die filosofie centraal. Door het gebruik van primaire kleuren en zwarte basislijnen krijgen de mens- en dierfiguren een krachtige maar bovenal heldere uitstraling. Hierbij speelt suggestie van de kunstenaar en interpretatie van de kijker een wezenlijke rol.
Zelf spreekt hij het liefst over zijn werk als kunst met een kleine ‘k’. Binnen dit abstracte werkkader staat de grote knipoog centraal. Fantasie en perfecte harmonie zijn uitgangspunten waarmee hij zijn ervaringen vormgeeft, dat is wat hij wil delen met de kijker.
