Enthousiast en gedreven worden mijn sculpturen gemodelleerd uit klei en wordt het thema van de mens als uitgangspunt gebruikt. Figuratief en toch verstoord. Verfijnde trekken uitvloeiend uit een ruwe massa.
Op 16 augustus 1958 in Izegem geboren ben ik grotendeels autodidact. Op 16 jarige leeftijd werden de eerste penseeltrekken gezet met olieverf, eerst op papier maar al vlug overschakelend op doek. Het landschap en stillevens waren de onderwerpen. De natuur in al zijn verscheidenheid, ook het menselijk lichaam.
Op 30 jarige leeftijd, en na een cursus boetseren, stapte ik over op keramiek en zocht ik mijn passie bij het menselijke lichaam als onderwerp waarbij ik de natuur op zich niet volledig losliet.
EIGENHEID
Het werk is een uitdrukking van het menselijke lichaam in zijn beweging. Een lichaam dat los komt uit een ruwe materie gerelateerd aan de ruwe elementen van de natuur.
Ruwe vormeloze massa waaruit het vrouwelijk naakt of de mannelijke torso loskomt, bevrijd uit de banden van het leven, vrijgekomen uit de krachten van het vormloze, scheuren en onvolmaaktheden overwinnend door verfijnde vormen en bewegingen.
VANDAAG
Keramiek blijft een grote passie maar ook kleur en verf zijn niet ver weg. Nieuwe tekeningen en schilderijen worden geboren zoekend in dezelfde richting als het beeldverhaal waarbij vlakken en onvolmaaktheden moeten samengaan met verfijnde uitgewerkte figuren. Waar brute kracht en sierlijke elegantie hand in hand moeten gaan.
