Raoul Scipioni Guenancia

• Formé à Met de Penninghen Paris et aux Arts Décoratifs de Paris (ENSAD), j'ai fait l'ensemble de ma carrière comme directeur artistique dans la publicité tout en cultivant le dessin et l'illustration sous toutes ses formes. Actuellement, à 56 ans, je suis dessinateur / roughman pour la publicité, je peins depuis 2008 et j'expose régulièrement depuis 2014. Mon atelier est à Joinville-le-pont (Val de Marne).

• I received a classical training from a prestigious Art School in Paris : Penninghen School Met/Paris, ENSAD (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs) Degree/Paris, specialization in visual communications. Until the present time, my career has been in the advertising field as a Senior Art Director. I have worked for the most famous advertising agencies (French, European and American company). Throughout all these years, I have never stopped exploring various types of drawings and illustrations. Today, at age 56, I am still working for an advertising company as a “roughman” (advertisement sketch artist) and I am now developing my second life through my paintings.
I paint since 2008 and I show my work since 2014. My painting studio is situated in Joinville-le-pont, near Paris.

J’utilise la technique de peinture des glacis à l'huile que j’ai apprise pendant mes études aux Arts Décos. Mon professeur d’illustration à cette époque, un italien renommé et talentueux, m’avait enseigné l’art du glacis à la façon des maitre vénitiens : l’adjonction de multi-couches de mélange d’huile et d’essence de thérébentine très délayées qui montent les valeurs au fur et à mesure et donnent ainsi un velouté extrêmement réaliste aux matières et aux textures représentées sur le tableau. Un vernis mat recouvre l’ensemble pour unifier le tout, tandis que certains détails picturaux sont rehaussés par un vernis sélectif brillant. Ainsi le résultat présente une peinture très narrative.

I use a painting technique which I learnt during my time studying at the institute of Arts Decos. At the time, my art professor, a talented and renowned Italian Artist taught me the art of glazing, or the layering of transparent paint, in the traditional style of the Venetian Masters. This is a technique where many layers consisting of a diluted mixture of oil and turpentine are added. Stage by stage, this emphasizes the form of the composition, thus giving an extremely smooth and ealistic effect to the subjects and textures presented on my work. A matt veneer is
then spread all over the painting unifying the work whilst certain pictorial details are enhanced via a special glossy
finish. So the set presents a very narrative painting.
