This piece is part of a series that depicts abstracted imaginary vessels and flowers. Vessels for decoration and practical use are timeless and somehow an essential reflection of human culture. There is a sturdiness and practicality to vessels. The flowers are the opposite. They must be appreciated in the moment. This piece includes abstracted rugs. I imagine everyone pausing what they are doing and contemplating the pleasure of eating a slice of freshly baked mixed berry pie. Paint and wax pastel are the base layers. The marks and elements are often created using a sgraffito or transfer technique. Ink is also often used for details.
