It portrays the emotional trauma of domestic violence through the eyes of a child. The boy is shown sitting in the corner of a bed, visibly frightened, his small body folded inward in self-defense. In front of him lies a broken mirror — and within its sharp fragments, we see the reflection of a father raising his hand in violence.
The shattered glass becomes a metaphor for broken safety, lost innocence, and the deep psychological scars abuse leaves behind.
This painting is both a cry and a confrontation — giving form to silent pain and exposing a truth many children live with but cannot express.
