A Bandinha Furiosa Pintura por Waldomiro Sant'Anna

Born in Itápolis, in the heartland of São Paulo, Waldomiro de Freitas Sant’Anna spent his childhood and adolescence in the small town of Santa Rita do Passa Quatro. In 1971, he left for São Paulo to pursue his innate vocation at the Faculdade de Belas Artes. At just 19 years old, he held his first solo exhibition at the XI Zequinha de Abreu Festival in Santa Rita — marking the beginning of a prolific artistic journey.

Over the years, Sant’Anna immersed himself in both the theoretical and practical dimensions of art: attending courses, working in painting studios, and teaching art himself. After a period at the State University of Londrina (Paraná), he accepted a position at the São Paulo State Department of Culture. However, in the early 1980s, he made the decisive choice to fully devote himself to painting, leaving public service to focus exclusively on his studio practice.

His work has since been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows in Brazil, the United States, China, Italy, Portugal, and France, and it forms part of private and institutional collections across several countries.
