J’aime dessiner d’après nature. C’est un défi d’exécution qui ajoute une dimension toute autre au dessin, car il n’y a pas d’intermédiaire entre l’objet et son exécution sur papier. Les petits traits répétés ajoutent à la fois du mouvement et de la texture à la surface. Ils permettent de moduler ainsi les tons. Ce travail est méditatif car, chaque trait est un peu comme le lent mouvement de la respiration qui me ramène attentivement dans le moment présent.
I like to work using models, whether a human being or an object that particularly appeals
to me. It adds a special dimension to the creative process since my perception of these visual
elements are directly translated in the drawing I happen to work on. Textures are created by the juxtaposition of small strokes, which further add movement as well as modulations to the overall surface. It is indeed a meditative process which clearly makes me focus - without any distraction whatsoever - on the here and now.
