Né à Abidjan, autodidacte, Fernand Nonkouni mène une carrière depuis plus de 25 ans dans la peinture et la sculpture.
Il a collaboré avec plusieurs artistes africains et européens, expérimentant diverses techniques d’arts plastiques. Ayant résidé une vingtaine d’années en Afrique, les voyages et les rencontres ont nourri son inspiration.
Depuis 1995 il a présenté son travail dans un grand nombre d’expositions en Afrique (Burkina Faso, Sénégal, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Madagascar), en Europe (France, Allemagne, Suisse, Belgique, Pays-Bas, Luxembourg) et aux Etats-Unis.
Il a remporté en 1998 le Prix de la Fondation Pollock-Krasner de New York.Collection permanente à la Banque Mondiale (Washington DC), à la Commission Suisse des Beaux-Arts, à la Banque Centrale d’Afrique de l’Ouest (Dakar), à l’Ambassade de France et à la Délégation de l’Union européenne de Ouagadougou
