Sobre o autor
Raphael Perez, também conhecido pelo nome hebraico Rafi Peretz, nasceu em uma família tradicional e foi criado em Jerusalém. Seu pai, Shimon Perez, trabalhava como recepcionista no Hospital Hadassah Ein Kerem, em Jerusalém, enquanto sua mãe, Alice Aliza Perez, trabalhava como assistente em uma creche e posteriormente cuidou de um bebê em casa. Raphael tem vários irmãos, cada um seguindo caminhos diferentes na vida, da educação à espiritualidade e às viagens.
Depois de servir no Corpo de Artilharia do Exército Israelense, Raphael dedicou 15 anos à educação em ambientes terapêuticos infantis, ensinando arte e movimento. Formou-se no Centro de Artes Visuais de Be'er Sheva, onde estudou de 1989 a 1992. Desde 1999, ganha a vida com a venda de suas obras de arte e trabalha em seu estúdio em Tel Aviv desde 1995.
Ao longo dos anos, Raphael explorou diversos temas em sua arte, notadamente as relações interpessoais. Seu primeiro trabalho focou nas relações homem-mulher, antes de aceitar abertamente sua homossexualidade aos 32 anos. Desde então, cria pinturas idealistas que retratam relações entre pessoas do mesmo sexo em ambiente doméstico, retratando cenas do cotidiano com ternura e carinho.
Além de seu trabalho artístico, Raphael também manteve diários por muitos anos, documentando seus pensamentos, experiências e lutas pessoais. Esses diários foram exibidos em exposições individuais e coletivas, proporcionando uma visão profunda de sua jornada pessoal e artística.
