Nascido em Xangai em 1969, a carreira artística de Zhang Chunlei começou ainda jovem quando foi aprendiz do renomado pintor chinês, Mestre Jiang Fengbai. Em 1992, ele se formou na Escola de Artes da Universidade de Suzhou com um Certificado Profissional em design de decoração. Ele continuou sua formação artística no Japão em 1995. Em 2003, Zhang obteve seu MBA pela University of South Australia. Atualmente, ele vive e trabalha em Cingapura e sua prática artística se estende entre Cingapura e Xangai, na China.
Influenciada pela filosofia Lao Zhuang, que defende a beleza artística e o equilíbrio, a técnica de pintura de Zhang envolve a criação de uma série de pontos, linhas e planos bem entrelaçados, tecendo uma formação intencional com cores alternadas. Este conceito de fusão de elementos figurativos e abstratos resulta em uma obra de arte deslumbrante.
As obras de Zhang foram adquiridas por colecionadores privados e corporativos, como UOB Singapore, Marriot Hotel (Pequim), Yucun Art Museum e Suzhou Daily (China), Shangri-La Hotel, Legend Hotel, Times Square Hotel e Grand Margherita Hotel (Malásia). e Far East Plaza e Meritus Mandarin Hotel em Cingapura.
