In my view, If you are silent, you are complicit. You might as well pull the trigger. Apathy is the mother of wars. It allows genocidal maniacs to pursue them. People need to get angry. Get vocal. If you're an artist with a platform and you ignore the world as it is today, you are not an artist. You are a fraud intent only on making money. Whether it's painting, sculpture or writing. Art should speak!
The title of this painting is from a poem by the famous Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko:
"Oh bury me, then rise ye up
And break your heavy chains
And water with the tyrants' blood
The freedom you have gained.
And in the great new family,
The family of the free,
With softly spoken, kindly word,
Remember also me."

My earliest monochrome memories were painted instinctively in colour and given life through pigment and light, each brushstroke an awakening and a step to a greater understanding of the world around me.
Over time, my art became a mirror to the emotional tides of life—the chaos and unpredictability, the sudden wonder, the frustrations, the beauty, the ugliness, the quiet joys and the pain.
I returned fully and inevitably to painting after a successful and lucrative career in another field. I focused on developing a portfolio of work driven by my belief that art should speak and must transcend.
For me, the warmth and confinement of an academic womb was no substitute for the innate and instinctive need to understand and connect with life on my terms.
My unfettered and uninhibited creative expression grew into a visual language shaped by empathy, emotion, and a deep sensitivity to the beauty and fragility of life.
As an intuitive and instinctive artist, my painting is grounded in emotion, empathy and imagination without the constraints and expectations of academic frameworks and beyond the known, where art becomes transcendent—an emotional language that invites reflection, feeling, and connection beyond the visible.
In recent years, my work has drifted from the shores of empathy into deeper, stranger waters—a realm of symbolic surreality. My paintings no longer strive to capture what is seen, but to reveal what is felt, what is sensed, what whispers beneath. With light, texture, and colour as my compass, I explore the ineffable: the essence behind the form, the spirit within the surface.
Colour is my language of truth. It speaks louder than realism. It carries emotion with a purity that no figure or landscape could hold. It is a medium more honest than words and more emotionally sensitive and nuanced than form. I chase the radical, the fluid, the abstracted—seeking not precision but presence.
If intelligence requires the imagination to think differently and independently, and the vision to act upon those thoughts, then creativity, in challenging prevailing wisdom and knowledge, is the apogee of human intelligence.
To paint is to question what is known and to dream what is not. Art should not merely be seen but felt. It should not merely be made. Art must be lived.
