Renowned graphic artist and painter, one of the leaders of the artistic avant-garde "sixties" in Transcarpathia. Winner of the regional prize named after Y. Bokshaya and A. Erdelyi (1996).In 1946 he graduated Uzhgorod College of Applied Arts, department of painting, where his teachers were F.Manaylo and E.Kontratovich. Participant of art exhibitions: regional since 1946, republican and foreign since 1955. Member of National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1968. Held two personal exhibitions. Mastered several foreign languages, was keen on history of world art, Eastern philosophical and religious trends, practiced yoga.In 1950-60s in Uzhgorod an informal "avant-garde club" was formed around the artist, gathering Transcarpathian artists (F. Seman, E. Kremnitskaya), as well as artists from Lvov, Kiev, Riga and Leningrad. Among the guests and friends of P. Bedzir were famous film director, People's Artist of the USSR S. Paradjanov, People's Artist of the USSR T. Yablonskaya, People's Artist of the USSR G. Yakutovich, famous art critic G. Ostrovsky. He was persecuted by the Soviet authorities for his free-thinking and atypical way of life (from harassment in the press to arrest for keeping forbid den literature).The most famous and lasting series of his works, identifying him as an outstanding master of graphic art in Transcarpathia and Ukraine, was a series of works titled "From the Life of Trees". He made his first monotypes with trees in the late 1950s, and from 1980s to the last days of his life this subject remained the leading one in his creative work. In hundreds of graphic sheets dedicated to the world of trees, the artist in a philosophical and metaphorical form sought to depict and comprehend the eternal problems of human existence.
