L’uso del colore è magistrale: il verde non è semplicemente sfondo, ma spazio vivo, materico, che pulsa e contiene il bianco centrale come una membrana porosa. Cantù Gentili introduce anche il caso nel suo linguaggio: quelle gocce di rosso che scivolano fuori dal quadrato sono come delle incrinature nella struttura, piccoli incidenti che amplificano la tensione tra l’ordine e il disordine, tra la costruzione e la sua inevitabile erosione. The painting here is not static, but behaves like an organism that expands and contracts. Cantù Gentili also introduces chance into his language: those drops of red that slide out of the square are like cracks in the structure, small accidents that amplify the tension between order and disorder, between construction and its inevitable erosion.
