Hidden Lake started as a re-creation of the fresh green rolling foothills I see out my dining room window every Spring. Hidden Lake started as a re-creation of the fresh green rolling foothills I see out my dining room window every Spring. With the San Gorgonia Mountain Range in the background, I thought I had a workable idea. However, the rolling hills idea didn't work. The scene wasn't interesting enough. So, I filled in what I thought I would see when I hiked in an area like this. The only problem was the canvas area just below the mountains was blank.
It took a little time, but it occurred to me that a hidden lake could be in the foreground of the mountains. I have memories of hiking deep into Northern Minnesota woods and coming upon a lake. One that does not have a mountain range in its background and looks like it came out of nowhere. A lake that has no shores, cabins, or areas touched by humans save for Chippewa, Ojibwa or Sioux Indian tribes and their villages.

Like many, I relegated my love of painting and creating to making a living.  To that end, I earned a Master's in Nursing. 

I worked and eventually taught staff in hospital Emergency and related departments to obtain and maintain a high level of competence. The goal was always to insure staff delivered timely, appropriate, and high quality care to patients. 

I have been drawing and creating all my life.  Training in this milieu included one high school and one college level art course, both pre-requisites to graduation.  Otherwise the only thing influencing my artistry is a maternal great grandfather who worked as an artist, I was told.  

Since my retirement in 2016, I have had time to return to painting with oil.  It's now time to risk sharing my work with you.
