Igor Mitoraj (1944-2014) was een hedendaagse Poolse beeldhouwer. Hij wordt beschouwd als een van de meest internationaal erkende Poolse beeldhouwers en staat bekend om zijn gefragmenteerde lichaamssculpturen die vaak worden gemaakt voor grootschalige openbare installaties.
Mitoraj's sculpturale stijl was klassiek geïnspireerd, met een sterke nadruk op de goed gemodelleerde torso. Zijn werken proberen vaak problemen aan te pakken over het menselijk lichaam, zijn schoonheid en kwetsbaarheid, zijn verdriet, evenals diepere delen van de menselijke natuur die in de loop van de tijd degenereren.
