Allan Kardec Cardoso Teixeira, bekend onder de alias Dek, werd geboren op 2 maart 1955 in Guapo, een van de kleinste steden in het grootstedelijk gebied van Goiania, de hoofdstad van de staat Goias in Brazilië. In 1979 studeerde hij af in architectuur en stedenbouw aan de PUC (Pauselijke Katholieke Universiteit - Goias). Hij begon niet alleen een carrière in de architectuur, maar verdiepte zich tegelijkertijd ook in het domein van de kunst.
In de jaren tachtig kreeg Dek's artistieke reis vorm door deelname aan regionale kunsttentoonstellingen, waaronder de prestigieuze Gremi-80-prijs, maar ook door nationale tentoonstellingen in vooraanstaande steden als Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Recife, Santos, Brasilia en zelfs internationaal in Tokio, Japan; Atami en Kyoto, Japan; Amsterdam en Rotterdam, Nederland; Parijs, Frankrijk; Lissabon, Braga en Porto, Portugal. Opmerkelijke erkenningen tijdens deze periode zijn onder meer prijzen van Vasp in Goiania, Sanbra in Recife en de Contemporary Salon Art Show in Santo Andre, Sao Paulo.
Als hoogtepunt van dit tijdperk sloot Dek af met de Art Salon van 1990, waar hij de Henrique Santillo-prijs ontving van de gouverneur van de staat Goias, samen met een speciale vermelding van de jury. Bovendien verdiende hij een reisprijs naar Parijs, Frankrijk, voor de Goias Biënnale.
Vervolgens waagde Dek zich in de internationale kunstscène, met een bijzondere focus op Italië en de Verenigde Staten. Zijn artistieke carrière, gekenmerkt door een samensmelting van architecturale en creatieve bezigheden, toont een traject dat regionale, nationale en internationale platforms omvat, wat hem bijval en erkenning uit verschillende hoeken van de wereld oplevert.
