Geïnspireerd door zijn vader, Rafael Fernandez Romero, een bouwkundig ingenieur gespecialiseerd in bruggen, ontstond Lugufelo's interesse in constructie en materialen al vroeg in zijn leven.
Lugufelo kreeg de kans om Acerca visuele effecten en kinetische kunsten te leren en in zijn werken combineert hij het gebruik van geavanceerde technologieën om kunst te creëren die uniek en boeiend is, de manipulatie van vormen om schaduwen te creëren met verschillende soorten metalen en meerdere behandelingen. Zijn specialiteiten zijn: handgemaakte werken in metalen materialen: zoals staal, aluminium, messing, koper en roestvrij staal, maar ook hout, glas, keramiek en acryl.
