Wat is de oorsprong van de Encaustiek techniek?

Encaustic schilderij is gemaakt van een mengsel van pigmenten opgelost in gesmolten was. Encaustic is een preparaat op basis van bijenwas (bindmiddel) en verschillende essences (essentie van terpentijn, kleurpigmenten). Het wordt gebruikt voor het onderhoud van meubels en het waxen van parketvloeren, maar dit mengsel wordt ook gebruikt bij het schilderen.
