Warli Art is tribal art mostly created by the tribal people from the North Sahyadri Range in Maharashtra, India. The Warli tribe is one of the largest in India, located outside Mumbai.
This art form consists of basic geometric shapes: a circle, a triangle and a square which symbolises different elements of nature.Brown and White colours are widely used.
The artwork which I prepared is a celebration of Warli art that captures the rhythm of everyday life and the harmony of nature. At its core, this piece portrays the interconnectedness between human and nature.
I was deeply inspired by India’s rich folk art traditions and wanted to preserve that cultural narrative through a sculptural medium. For this piece,I used an actual traditional wooden fan (Pankhi) as the base.Pankhi was once used in everyday Indian households which also symbolises the passage of air, energy and time.
My creative process blended folk techniques with handmade innovation.I first sketched the design using pencil and marker, then enhanced the outline using candle making thread, giving it a raised texture.I followed this with a paper-mâché technique, layering tissue paper soaked in a glue-water mixture to add depth and sculptural relief.Once the base dried, I coated it twice with white emulsion, lending the surface a slight glossy sheen and smooth finish.
The final stage involved using high-quality acrylic paints, applied with rich brushstrokes and tapping with a cloth in selected areas to create an antique, weathered effect that echoes the timelessness of the tradition.
This artwork not only tells a story but is created on a story-a forgotten fan turned canvas, whispering the winds of culture, memory and craft.

My artistic journey is deeply rooted in the traditional Indian folk arts from various regions.Since childhood, I’ve been creating drawings and paintings, and over the years, I have been profoundly inspired by the beauty, symbolism, and spiritual essence of Indian folk art traditions.                                                                   I work across both 2D and relief formats, specialising in a blend of folk painting and sculptural techniques. My practice includes Warli, Madhubani, Gond and a few more styles, often merging ancient tribal symbolism with contemporary artistic expression.I create artworks on wooden bases and canvases too.
While many of my works feature textured and dimensional elements, I also produce flat-surface acrylic paintings that celebrate colour, storytelling, and cultural heritage.
My goal is to bring warmth, meaning, and artistic connection to homes and hearts around the world-whether through wall art, folk-inspired sculptures, or narrative paintings.
