Bluebird of Happiness (2013) 绘画 由 Miriam Morgan

She was created by first affixing a sheet of Stonehenge printmaker's paper to a wood panel, giving that a wash of ink, then drawing the portrait in graphite. I then sealed the drawing with workable fixative, and went in with colored pencil, more ink, and graphite details. Then I glued on some embroidery floss for the details on her garment using ModPodge, and added some acrylic embellishments and highlights.
If you've ever seen the movie K-PAX, you might remember the scenes in which a patient at the mental hospital is given the task of waiting patiently for a "bluebird of happiness" to appear. To my mind, this is one of the subtle yet profound examples of conscious manifestation in popular media. Often, we don't notice our desires coming into being because we're too busy looking at the things we don't want. So our wishes remain just out of reach, and out of sight.
But they're always there. Just wait, and know that what you want is available to you. As Neville might say, "what you want, wants you too".
Thank you for visiting my little painting, and reading these few words.

To me, creating art is a spiritual exploration, and if I’ve succeeded, the finished piece invites the viewer to embark on an exploration of their own.
My creative journey began in childhood and was further nurtured by an inspiring teacher in middle school. Where I was self-effacing and, like most pre-teens, didn’t take my work seriously, she saw my potential. I often think of her with gratitude, as her encouragement led me to honor my artistic ability and pursue it with dedication.
Since then, my influences have ranged from the opulent mysticism of Gustav Klimt to Egon Schiele’s raw expressiveness and Maxfield Parrish’s radiant dreamscapes, which somehow possess a solidity that feels real. These artists' works reflect a belief I hold dear, shaped by the teachings of Neville Goddard: that all reality originates in consciousness. This idea is what I aim to express in my work, even in what might appear to be the most mundane portraiture. To me, nothing is mundane, and all is divine.
Over the years, I’ve evolved from working traditionally in mixed media—layering drawing, painting, and textiles, blending the tangible and the intangible—to working digitally in Procreate. Recently, I’ve begun revisiting older works kept “in the closet,” reworking and developing them digitally to create something fresh. In this way, I’m bringing both my art and myself out of hiding.
