I first painted Tuesday Afternoon back in 2011 using a graphite under-drawing on a wood panel, crumbled tissue paper, powdered pigments, walnut oil, and some final touches in traditional oils. It is inspired by both the Moody Blues song of the same name, and my oldest son who was nearing adulthood at the time. It can be hard to let go of our children and let them grow up, but I wanted my son to find the path that led him to his greatest happiness. I am likewise happy to report today that he seems well "on his way".

The original still hangs in my dining room, and probably always will. But recently, I decided to give the painting a slight rework digitally, refining his hairline and some branches on the trees using an oil brush in Sketchbook Pro. Someday, I'll take the painting off the wall and rework it manually, but for now, I just love gazing at it and imagining all the new adventures my son will embark on.

To me, creating art is a spiritual exploration, and if I’ve succeeded, the finished piece invites the viewer to embark on an exploration of their own.

My creative journey began in childhood and was further nurtured by an inspiring teacher in middle school. Where I was self-effacing and, like most pre-teens, didn’t take my work seriously, she saw my potential. I often think of her with gratitude, as her encouragement led me to honor my artistic ability and pursue it with dedication.

Since then, my influences have ranged from the opulent mysticism of Gustav Klimt to Egon Schiele’s raw expressiveness and Maxfield Parrish’s radiant dreamscapes, which somehow possess a solidity that feels real. These artists' works reflect a belief I hold dear, shaped by the teachings of Neville Goddard: that all reality originates in consciousness. This idea is what I aim to express in my work, even in what might appear to be the most mundane portraiture. To me, nothing is mundane, and all is divine.

Over the years, I’ve evolved from working traditionally in mixed media—layering drawing, painting, and textiles, blending the tangible and the intangible—to working digitally in Procreate. Recently, I’ve begun revisiting older works kept “in the closet,” reworking and developing them digitally to create something fresh. In this way, I’m bringing both my art and myself out of hiding.
