This artwork is part of my long-standing Modern Shepherds series—an exploration of Jewish continuity, tradition, and the deep-rooted connection to the Land of Israel through the timeless figure of the shepherd. From Biblical patriarchs like Abraham to present-day families tending flocks in the hills of Judea and Samaria, shepherdhood remains a living metaphor for faith, resilience, and belonging. This piece pays homage to that legacy.
In Golden Hour Shepherd, there’s a solitary figure of a man walking behind his sheep under the wide open sky, following the quiet rhythm of the land. The shepherd’s silhouette, dressed in traditional garb and a broad hat, evokes both ancient presence and modern observance. The forms are abstract yet intentional—quietly suggesting beard, gesture, and lineage. The two sheep graze contentedly in the foreground, firmly grounded in their environment. A single tree stands tall in the distance, forming a subtle visual line with the shepherd—linking man and nature, movement and rootedness. The tree is more than a compositional anchor—it symbolizes generational connection, and spiritual growth. Altogether, these four figures—the man, the tree, and the two animals—form a silent narrative of presence and purpose.
