In phenomenological philosophy, the body is not just an object, but the subjective self through which we experience the world and other people. It does not exist in isolation - it is always immersed in the context of relationships with other people and the world around us. The art subjects this theme to analysis - how bodies interact with each other and the related bodily context takes on a symbolic dimension. The bodies of sleepers - their poses and mutual alignment - can symbolize closeness, tension or harmony. The arrangement of bodies in a dream illustrates subtle emotional relationships: closeness, remoteness, concern or isolation. The body in the context of these interactions indicates that the way it is “positioned,” moves or reacts, reflects internal emotional states and relationships with the environment. We interpret these interactions as an expression of relationships on both the physical and emotional levels. Sleep in art is also a space for the unconscious mind. In its silence, the body gives voice not only to emotions, but also to hidden desires or fears. In this sense, images of sleeping people become a field for understanding not only the physical condition of the body, but also the mental state, which is not always available in consciousness. In the image of sleeping bodies, proximity not only means physical presence, but can also symbolize emotional dependence.
